Bishop Abraham Memorial College, Thuruthicaud (Dist. Pathanamthitta) was commonly known as  B.A.M. College was established on 28th June 1965 under the management of Bishop Abraham Memorial Trust Association registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act 1965. It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress. The college is affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 26th September 1989  under Act, 1956. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with “B” Grade – (CGPA Score 2.55 on a 4 Point Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 14th September 2015. B.A.M. college is named after Bishop Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan, that saintly soul who dedicated his life to the spread of the values of the Kingdom of God. For him, life was to wear out than to rust out. The institution upholds these ideas and conveys the student community that devotion to truth and disciplined behavior are the prime requirements for the successful life. It is a co-educational college, providing regular courses at primarily the higher secondary and undergraduate levels which are located in a rural part of a Thuruthicaud played a pioneering role in the field of higher education. The upgradation of the college in 1978 with an undergraduate programme in B.Sc. Botany was a turning point in the history of its development. It was followed by the inauguration of 6 other UG programmes in various disciplines. The institution became a first-grade college with the beginning of a PG programme in Commerce in 1995. Subsequently, another PG programme was introduced in the discipline of Applied Chemistry in 2000. To meet the emerging needs of the time, one PG programme in Botany and one UG programme in Commerce were brought in the self-financing sector. A regular PG programme in Economics has recently started functioning. The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student’s admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the affiliating university. The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society. The college offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts & Science stream with optional specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It also offers Add-On Certificate courses. All the Under-Graduate Courses are envisaged and implemented as per University Choice Based Credit Semester System (UCBCSS). For passing the degree programme, a student should obtain a minimum of 120 credits of which 38 credits shall be from Common Courses, 78 credits from Core and Complementary Courses and 4 credits from the Open Courses.
