There is no denying the fact that the coming of Barama College was the result of the untiring efforts, great zeal and tremendous self-sacrifice of toiling masses under the able leadership of Late Surendra Nath Das, the MLA of 62 Barama (ST) LAC. Then it was of Sri Satish Chandra Das, the founder principal, under whose guidance the college had received first government aid in 1978 under Deficit Grants-in-aid system and accordingly the college is now managed by a Governing Body.
